Kya Stawski When you were born

When I was born, before the complete inundation of our age of technology and social media, the moments given the honour of a photograph were unsullied, imperfect and raw. Representing old family photographs in the traditional medium of oil on wood, my body of work recognises these everyday moments and critiques the modern perspective. I explore the passage of time through these soft, intimate, insignificant moments that are often overlooked within a modern life. My work is a homage to the existence of these moments in the present, before we see them only in hindsight: bittersweet, and forgotten.
