Emilia Louw Live, laugh, late
My body of work explores human nature by magnifying the emotions of the everyday world. It dramatises mundanity and daily events to express the significance of individual existence. Working with digital illustration, I use the typical ‘overdramatic’ style of pulp art on different text covers including magazines, gothic novels and vintage movie posters. Through the texts’ forms and popular media I represent how I experience life and its smallest moments. My work is intended to provoke the audience to consider how meaning and importance are found in minute events.
