Paige Olivia Colgate Suburban wilderness
Suburban wilderness is a series of prints made from dry point etchings, collage and monoprints using impasto medium. The inspiration for my body of work was the wetlands of Western Sydney and their relationship with urbanisation. In these wetlands Nature is present in small areas of land surrounded by large expanses of urban development. I have used the motif of water to connect the etchings, and colour and layering to represent the beauty of Nature and its relationship to humans. My work investigates the extent of the human impact on Nature through our effects on the environment.
