In my body of work I use symbols of sight – the candle, the webcam, the all-seeing eye of truth – to physically embody our society and explore how we view ourselves through time. Each of the three panels represents a primary aspect of humanity. The raw untreated plywood construction demonstrates the fundamental bond between nature and humanity. I used a multi-layered laser cutting technique, where each of the 13 layers in each panel was cut with a laser and then stacked together. The multistorey stacking process gives the panels a sense of depth and draws the audience in.
