My work uses the dramatic and raw medium of printmaking to depict my father’s various facial expressions. Using simple, lead-like lines, each piece within the work reveals a different way in which the years have etched themselves into his skin, highlighting the subtle yet significant nuances of mood in the representation of a person. While accentuating the result of the aging process on his face, I have also preserved a jovial innocence in his features to accurately represent the conflict between state of mind and being. The metaphor of repetition inherent within the printmaking process is presented in juxtaposition with the unique relationship between father and daughter.
