My work represents my cultural connections to China. It also comments on my disappointment with the pollution created through industrialisation. China and its landscape have become ‘the world’s factory’. I have used colour and different painting techniques integrated and overlayed with text to create rich, layered and expressive surfaces as well as meaningful symbolism. By experimenting with these processes my artwork gradually became multi-layered. My work also comments on the dark side of human society, where people are so obsessed with their success, power and status, and ignore the stability of nature.
