Alexandra Micallef Lost contract of love
Lost contract of love explores the intensity of children’s emotions resulting from the psychological effects of abandonment by their parents. Although my experience of my parent’s divorce was loving and supportive, I sought to portray how these changes to the dynamics of family life can distort a child’s perception of the world. I employed collagraph, carborundum and monoprint techniques to confrontationally depict the vulnerability of tormented and emotionally needy children. Additionally, the exploration of expressive mark-making to signify the experiences of these children strengthened the translation of emotion.
